Match Report: Sheppey United 0–1 Margate
Sheppey United suffered their first defeat of the season as a late Albie O’Mara Knapp strike secured a narrow 1-0 victory for Margate.
Entering the match unbeaten in their opening three games, the Ites fielded an unchanged starting XI for the third consecutive fixture. The opening 45 minutes saw a tightly contested affair with key chances at both ends. Harley Earle was called into action midway through the first half to make a fine stop after Splatt dispossessed Spencer, while Spencer and Lawrence tested the Margate defence at the other end.
The second half brought increased intensity. Dylan Adjei-Hersey proved to be Sheppey’s primary spark, repeatedly driving at the Margate defence, winning free kicks, and drawing yellow cards. Earle made an incredible save in the 54th minute to keep the scores level after the ball shinned of Mbayo, but the Ites struggled to capitalise on secondary chances, with Alfie Evans and Adjei-Hersey both seeing efforts blocked or go just over the bar.
The decisive moment came in the 78th minute when Margate’s Albie O’Mara Knapp met a cross at the far post to break the deadlock. Sheppey turned to their bench, introducing Jack O'Neill, Josh Chambers, and Shaq Gordon, but Margate held firm through the closing minutes to hand the Ites their first league setback.
