  • Where can I find the club’s safeguarding policies?

  • Club Welfare Officers (CWO) Responsibilities

    Our Club Welfare Officers play a key role in maintaining safeguarding standards. Their responsibilities include:
    - Ensuring the club has safeguarding, anti-bullying, and equality policies
    - Making sure all required officials have up-to-date FA DBS checks
    - Informing players, parents, and staff about safeguarding procedures
    - Overseeing responsible recruitment processes

    CWOs also work closely with the County FA Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) and regularly attend meetings to keep safeguarding a priority.

  • How do I report a safeguarding concern?

    If you are concerned about a child or adult at risk, report it immediately using the following steps:

    1. Speak to the Club Welfare Officer
    2. Contact the County FA Designated Safeguarding Officer
    3. Email The FA Safeguarding Case Management Team at safeguarding@thefa.com
    4. Call the NSPCC helpline at 0808 800 5000 or email help@NSPCC.org.uk
    5. Contact Childline at 0800 1111 or visit childline.org.uk
    6. In an emergency, call the Police or Children’s Services.

    Doing nothing is not an option – safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.

  • DBS Checks – Who Needs One?

    Starting from the 2024/25 season, all team officials at clubs with players under 18 must have:
    - A valid DBS clearance
    - Completed the ‘Player Welfare in Open Age Football’ course

    This includes managers, coaches, physios, and first aiders, but not club secretaries.
