Sheppey United Ladies Begin Their Season Under New Management

Sheppey United Ladies First Home Fixture - 07/09/25

Sheppey United Ladies have kicked off their campaign with two tough opening fixtures at Holm Park, as the squad begins to adapt to a new playing style, formation, and several fresh faces in the team.

Game 1: Sheppey United Ladies 2–7 Kent United

The first home outing saw the Ladies face a strong Kent United side. Despite the 7–2 defeat, there were flashes of real attacking promise, with Sheppey finding the net twice through Amy & Billie. Showing resilience throughout the match. For many of the players, it was their first opportunity to test themselves under the new system, and while the scoreline was harsh, the performance gave plenty to build on.

Game 2: Sheppey United Ladies 0–4 Parkwood Rangers

In their second home game, the Ladies faced Parkwood Rangers FC. A 4–0 loss was the result, but once again, the squad showed signs of progress — particularly in terms of shape, defensive organisation, and cohesion. The improvements from Game 1 to Game 2 were clear to see, and the group will only continue to grow as the weeks go on.

Building for the Season Ahead

Under new management, the team is working hard to adapt to a fresh philosophy both in training and on matchdays. With a revised formation, new players settling in, and a clear emphasis on teamwork and development, this is very much the beginning of an exciting journey for Sheppey United Ladies.

There are plenty of positives to take from these early fixtures:

  • New players making their mark and showing strong potential

  • Improved organisation from one game to the next

  • Team spirit and togetherness growing week by week

Words from 1st Team Head Coach, Darren Cooper:

Last weekend’s result was a tough one to take, but with time to reflect, it’s important to keep things in perspective. With a number of new players coming into the squad and myself settling in as a new coach with fresh ideas, we always knew it wouldn't click overnight.

That said, the reaction from the group this week has been outstanding. The attitude, effort, and togetherness shown in training has been everything we want to build our identity on. There’s a strong belief growing within the team belief that we’re heading in the right direction and that we’ll continue to improve as the season progresses.

Myself, Waine, Matt and the girls really appreciate all the support we receive and we hope we can use that, moving forward.

The results may not have gone the Ladies’ way so far, but the long-term vision is clear. With continued hard work and commitment, the team is confident they can turn performances into results and push on over the course of the season.

The club is proud of the Ladies’ efforts and looks forward to seeing them continue their journey on and off the pitch.

Up the Ites! 🔴⚪
