Local goalkeeper Hadley Glock (21) and fellow Islander, the right sided player Harrison McCall (18) have both committed to another season at the Ites!

Both signed for the 1st team last season, with Hadley also gaining experience at Lordswood during the second half of the season (whilst dual registered), and Harrison featuring in our last two games of the season – with a driving run from right back against East Grinstead starting a move for an Ites goal.

Both featured at Punjab United on Tuesday, Harrison showing versatility by playing left back for 90 minutes, and Hadley being unbeaten for the 45 minutes he played. Both players also featured heavily for our U23s last season.

Speaking about the duo, Darren Blackburn said, “It’s great to see two local lads showing such potential at the club. As a community club, it’s one of the clubs goals to both support development and promote opportunities for players to attempt a step up at the club when the time is right.

“I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Harrison a couple of times, he’s got great pace and has a great attitude.

“Hadley is obviously keen for first team football but at 21 as a keeper he’s got plenty of time on his side and he’ll need to be patient, but with the introduction of Sheppey Sports that will provide a good platform for young players to gain experience whilst remaining within the club.

“With the u23 trials due to be well attended it’ll be interesting to see the standard of the rest of the next crop of talent coming through.”

Geoff Record was pleased to see the pair commit, adding, “Good to see a local player in Harrison coming through and joining the 1st team squad, he clearly has the right attitude and approach to learning the game. He has played very well to date and I have been impressed with the speed of his improvement during games, as he takes on instructions very well. I’m sure he will now continue to improve, and I can help him with that. Our supporters should look forward to seeing that progression.

“With Hadley signing it’s just strengthened the goalkeeping position, and whenever I have seen him play for us he has been very good – and on Tuesday night he made an outstanding save from a header when we were 1 nil down. During the last year or so I must say he has been brilliant in training, continuously making great saves and working very hard when we have been working on finishing. It can be tough going physically and he never asks for a break.”
