It’s two new faces in one day for the Ites with Trinidad and Tobago forward Daniel Carr arriving to Holm Park.

The 30 year old started as a youngster at Reading academy, before Carr dropped down to the Conference South with Eastbourne Borough before joining Dulwich Hamlet in 2012, and scored 25 goals in the season, which led him to being scouted by many higher-level clubs including Chelsea and Liverpool. Carr also previously went on trial at Liverpool, Leeds United, Charlton Athletic.

On 13 April 2013, it was announced that Carr had joined Football League Championship side Huddersfield Town for an undisclosed five figure fee on a two-year deal. On 19 November 2013, Daniel signed on loan for Football League Two side Fleetwood Town. A year later Carr joined Mansfield Town on an emergency one-month loan, before joining League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge on loan for the rest of the season.

After leaving Huddersfield Town, Carr joined Cambridge United before moving onto National League side Aldershot Town on loan until 9 January 2016 followed by Woking.

Once he departed Cambridge, Carr rejoined Dulwich Hamlet which during that spell he had some time on loan at Leatherhead. His next move was to Sweden, joining Karlstad BK of the Division 2 Norra Götaland. He scored eight times in 19 league games as Karlstad finished the season in third place.

His next move was to Shamrock Rovers of the League of Ireland on 10 February 2018, after playing 4 trial games during pre-season and was given the number 9 jersey for the 2018 season. Carr made consecutive substitute appearances for the start of Rovers 2018 campaign against Bohemians and Dundalk FC. Carr made his first start for the club against Bray Wanderers on 26 February, when he scored his first goal for Rovers in a 6–0 win. In the 2018–19 UEFA Europa League Carr scored at the Friends Arena against AIK Fotboll

In recent years Carr has played at Apollon Limassol (Cypriot First Division), RoPS (Finnish Veikkausliiga), Bengaluru United (India), Shelbourne, Sevenoaks Town and Welling United.

Carr has also played 6 games for Trinidad and Tobago between 2019-2021.

Manager Ernie Batten said, “Daniel is a great signing, he brings experience from the Football League, abroad and the international scene. This could be vital for a squad that’s generally quite young and also one that wants to push on further next season. This further shows out intent to progress”

Assistant Manager Darren Blackburn commented, “Extremely pleased to get Dan on board. His experience is hard to find at this level and he’s an intelligent forward who we hope can not only get his own share of goals but he’ll create space and opportunities for our other attacking players as well. He’s a great lad and will be fantastic to have his experience around the dressing to support some of the younger lads as well”

Geoff Record added, “Great addition to the squad. Dan has a very proven background and will be a success at our club. Our supporters love to see attacking players and I am sure he will deliver. We are slowly adding to our attacking options and this always brings the best out of players within the squad.”

The forward added, “I’m really happy to be on board and can’t wait to get going and helping the team, feels like a good fit for me.”
