Striker Javaun Splatt is the latest returnee confirmed by Ernie Batten this week.

The forward who joined the Ites from Sittingbourne last season started out at Derby County as well as having spells at Whitehawk, Billericay and Leatherhead.

Last season Splatt scored on 6 occasions, assisted 3 times and earnt 1 man of the match award from 18 appearances – despite being deployed as a makeshift 10 and winger at times.

The striker said, “I enjoyed my football since I’ve been here and we had a good end to the season, which goes to show how well we can do as a squad so I think the right option was for me to stay and see if we can go all the way this season.”

Manager Ernie Batten said, ” Jav is still young, but this coming season will be a big one for him – and one he’ll want to grab hold of, settle down and command a starting place.

“We’ve only really seen glimpses of what he can do as a striker. This is a player that started at Derby County and had a good spell at Whitehawk, so we know he has the potential.

“To be fair, we also had to ask him to play out of position at times, and then he pulled his hamstring as well, which is always a tricky recovery.

“He was arguably one of the best players on the pitch at our last game of the season (East Grinstead), scoring and also winning the free kick for Jacobs goal, and I’m looking at him to produce that form on a regular basis now.

“We’re very likely to have three centre forwards next season, so him, Bradshaw and the other striker I’m looking to secure will all have to be at the top of their game to earn a starting role.”

Assistant Manager Darren Blackburn added, “Jav is player who at a young age has already experienced the ups and downs football can throw at you.

“He just needs a solid season to help him achieve the levels he showed a couple of years ago. He’ll need to hit the ground running in pre-season because competition will be tough, but we’ll give him all the support and encouragement we can to help him.”

Jav will wear shirt 19 next season.
