Sheppey United can confirm the signing of Portuguese forward Jerson Dos Santos.

Jerson, 32, has played for a number of clubs in England, including Corinthian Casuals, Margate, East Grinstead, Erith & Belvedere, Herne Bay, Faversham Town and Whitehawk – he’s also played in Iceland too.

Speaking of the latest addition, Director of Football Matt Longhurst said “At this stage of the season, and with Javaun Splatt out with an injury suffered during the week, we needed to act quickly to get someone proven, someone available and someone to fit our group and style of play.”

“I have managed Jerson on a number of occasions, and he offers all the traits of a centre forward that Ernie wanted. He can run in behind, hold the ball up, he’s decent in the air and he’ll add quality and goals.

“If we can get him to hit the ground running he’ll be an asset for us at this late stage of the season. He’s a fit lad and I’m confident he’ll fit the group Ernie and Geoff have got here, it’s another late deal due to an injury but it should be a positive signing too.”

Jerson is in contention to make his debut this afternoon.
