Sheppey United are delighted to confirm the appointment of Azza Gary as the new Sheppey United U23s Manager.
Azza has been involved with the club for a number of years now, including working with the development team and other youth sides.
Speaking about his appointment Azza said, “It’s with great pleasure that I have been offered the role of U23’s Manager at Sheppey United.
“Firstly I want to say thank you to Shelley Holtam and Matthew Smith for giving me this opportunity. I understand the interest was high and to be selected I’m incredibly humbled.
“As I pick up the mantle from Ross Wiles, who had done a superb job the last 18 months or so, I look to continue his hard work and develop these promising and talented players into the first team picture. We have an amazing cohort of players who I look forward to working with.
“This is a club that I absolutely love. I’ve been around it now for some time at youth level and being part of the u23s previous coaching team. I know exactly what it means to these young lads to develop and be given the opportunity of potentially playing first team football.
“I’ve been in contact with Jack (Midson) who has been incredibly supportive since getting the role and again I look forward to being in regular dialogue with him, Jono and his first team set up.
“With that in mind I have a strong team of coaches with me – Greg McHardy and Beefy (Adam Wicketts) have been superb and they both will continue their current roles. I’m grateful that they have expressed their desire to stay on with the club and I honestly couldn’t ask for two better coaches and mentors to these players.
“One thing that has always been amazing at Sheppey is the continued support from staff but most importantly the fans that are the heart beat of this club. I would love to see you all on Monday nights getting behind these boys and giving them the great reception that they deserve – Come on you ITES!! 🔴⚪”
You will be able to see Azza and his U23s in action next Saturday when they take on the Sheppey United first team in a friendly (3pm).
