OFF-FIELD UPDATES

Club News

“The close season is always one of the busiest times at the football club and non-more so than this year with lots of changes off the field and behind the scenes. There have been so many changes and updates with all SUFC staff working many, many hours at the club on a voluntary basis. We understand some of your frustrations and comments as you too want our football club and stadium to be the very best it can be but please remember the above statement – the committee, board and staff work voluntarily and give their own time up to make everything happen behind the scenes. If you have an idea you would like to share, we welcome anyone to come and spare their free time to help volunteer. I have referenced this and more in my programme notes for tonight’s FA Cup replay. We are all but there now so please get behind everyone at the club for us to all enjoy the season ahead” Matthew Smith – Chairman

Replica Shirts

All pre-ordered replica shirts are now with us at the club and are ready for collection at tonight’s match. The club shop will be open from when the turnstiles open until kick off and then again at half time. Any replicas shirts that were ordered for delivery – you have the option to collect those this evening before they go out in the post tomorrow to you if you wish.

There was a slight delay from us receiving the completed order from the manufacturer due to a machine breakdown. We wanted to make it fair to all supporters that all replica shirts were available all at once. Hence, the slight delay in having them at the club. Matt and Paul have spent hours going over and checking off replica and first team shirts and kits. This has been a record breaking year for replica shirt orders with us turning around 120 supporter shirts as well as those shirts for the club shop display / ordering / sizing, the first team full kits (home and away), U23’s and development team also.

Club Shop

We now have all of our new SUFC merchandise in the revamped club shop. During the close season we have given the shop a make over and to bring back the hub for all supporters to purchase match day programmes from as well as lots of new merchandise. One of our new lines is a reusable insulated tea/coffee mug. When you purchase one of these you will then get 20p off the cost from every cup of tea/coffee from either of the two tea bars. We also have new style scarves, hats, bucket hats, water bottles, pin badges as well as some familiar favourites.

Please note that the serving hatch is now located to the side of the shop. Again in the close season we took the double doors out next to the shop to give us more space in that area so it didn’t create a bottle neck toward the bottom of the stairs.

Queenborough Road Tea Bar

For those of you at Saturdays first league fixture you would have seen that the new tea bar was used for the first time, all be it with it not quite full finished and as operational as we would have liked but again, this has been a new addition in the close season.

The tea bar building was kindly paid for by SUISA from the 50/50 draw monies raised. The club have had to match the building cost to fit the tea bar out with water and electric supply, internal utilities, insulation, counters, fridge and tea urn etc. We will also be erecting a frame and net in front of the tea bar for staff and supporter safety. This will also help with queuing, ordering and flow.

To help raise some funds toward this we will be running a silent auction for a framed SUFC home shirt from last season – its your chance to own a piece of history!

Silent Auction

In order to be the winner of the framed shirt the silent auction will work as follows:

Please write your full name, address, email, mobile number and your bid for the shirt on a piece of paper and hand it to the bar staff at the Spitfire Bar. Please make sure you write your details clearly.

Your bid amount is the amount you are willing to pay for the framed shirt.

The winner will be the highest bid received – simple!

You can start bidding at tonight’s FA Cup replay match
