Sheppey United have secured the services of Finley Roberts who will back-up Aiden Prall this season.

17 year old goalkeeper Finley is a local goalkeeper who was born and raised on the Isle of Sheppey. Having played youth football here at Holm Park Finley was also a scholar at Maidstone United.

Speaking to the Club on announcing the signing, new manager Jack Midson praised the attitude of Finley, “Finley came in during pre-season and has not only trained hard but takes on board what we tell him. He’s had a few minutes in our friendly games and the step-up to senior football has not phased him. He has a great attitude and I look forward to seeing him develop over the season.

“This also backs my intention and passion to bring the youth through and give them their chance at senior 1st team football”

Goalkeeper coach Kieran Gooding echoed those comments; “I’ve known Finley for the best part of 10 years and I’ve watched his progress with a close eye. He takes on board the advice that I and Aiden provide to him and he has the potential to grow from strength to strength if he continues this way. I’m chuffed the manager has agreed to sign him for this season.”

Finley was delighted to get the deal done. “Being a local lad and also having played youth football here this opportunity was too good to turndown. I’ve already gained great experiences having mixed with the first team during pre-season and I cannot wait to get going. Up the Ites!”.
