Club progressing on and off the field

Club News

Following the clubs AGM held this evening we are delighted to announce the appointment of a full time General Manager at the football club and a new Joint Chairman.

We grabbed a word with Joint Chairman Matthew Smith about these changes and he opened up with, “I am delighted to announce that Gary Seamark will join me as Chairman of our great club, effective from today. I decided some time ago that I needed support with the role and bringing Gary onboard will cement the youth & senior relationship within the football club. Gary will take over the day to day running of things with our new General Manager, Kerri Godden. We are looking at the club being used on a daily basis with the ongoing installation of the 3G surface, so I felt in the best interests of the club we needed fresh impetus to drive us forward off the field.”

Going into further detail on the new Joint Chairman role, Matt added “Gary Seamark joins me as Joint Chairman but will be in a more leading role, with me supporting if or when necessary. During lockdown I realised how precious my time is and after 9 years I felt I had given everything and it was time for some fresh blood to help us push on with the new facility and as a step 5 football club. Gary has done brilliant work with the youth set-up and I feel confident this step-up, with the support of the committee, will be very smooth and give us a real edge as we enter into the 2021/22 season.”

Speaking about the General Manager role, Matt said, “Kerri Godden will be no stranger to the Ites fans as she had been working in the main bar all last season and this new role will see her take control of the entire Holm Park facility, it would be remiss of me not to thank the outgoing Venue Manager Kerry Holloway. Kerry worked tirelessly whilst she was with us, so on behalf of everyone at the football club we thank you.”

Looking at on the field matters, Matt ended by saying “The squad is shaping up nicely and on Thursday you will get to see how we are progressing – but as I continue to say the only results that matter are those when the season starts. So as I always say, please get behind the team during this pre-season and I feel sure Gary will post his statement about his new role and plans for the club very shortly.”
