Good evening everyone. I have recently held a conversation with Alex Armstrong in regard to planning for next year, unfortunately Alex’s work commitments for the NHS has changed considerably. Alex and I both felt it would be very difficult for him to continue to complete his role as physio to the high standards he set last season due to having to miss two Saturday’s a month through work. Unfortunately at this level of football all players, coaches and managers have to prioritise work and we are very understanding of this.
Alex has been with the club for the last season and taken the physio department to a new level, his professionalism has been superb and knowledge second to none. I know that when Alex’s work commitments ease at some stage he will be ready for his next challenge.
I’m sure many of you will remember Alex for his heroics at Lordswood last season. Alex saved a long serving Sheppey fans life after having a stroke just after the final whistle. Alex was straight into the crowd providing treatment on the terraces and we would all agree that he saved his life that afternoon. After a lengthy recovery it’s great to hear he is now back home with his family. I think for these heroics Alex will certainly go down in the Sheppey books as a club legend!
Alex, it’s been a pleasure working with you, from all of us at Sheppey United, all the best.
