Jam’s Analysis of The Ites

Club News, New Signings

After the recent announcement of new backroom staff, we caught up with Jamie Willis – First Team Analyst.

Can you give us a bit of background about you and your involvement in football to date?

I am a level 2 qualified coach who has played and managed/coached in both the Kent and Cambridgeshire County Leagues. Whilst living in Cambridgeshire I also worked for Norwich City Football Club within there Regional Development Programme.

What was the deciding factor in you joining the Ites? Talk us though how it happened?

I originally applied for the analyst position at Herne Bay when Nick Gearing was the manager. Due to club changes he was then released from his position. He then got in touch with me a few weeks later to see if I fancied taking up the same role but at SUFC. Nick spoke very highly of the club which made it quite an easy decision to join the Ites.

What does the First Team Analyst role at Sheppey involve on a match day and outside of it?

On a match day I shall be videoing the match from the tower which will be going up soon. After the game I shall then be making video clips of the game and analysing the teams performance depending on what areas the management team want me to look at.

Will part of the video editing involve making a highlights video for the clubs YouTube channel: The IteTV Hub?

Nothing has been discussed as yet regarding a highlight package for YouTube, but you never know what may happen in the future.

What was your impression of the SUFC setup?

I had heard good things about the club previously was very impressed with the pitch and facilities at Holm Park.

Do you know anyone from the current squad?

I do not know anyone from the current squad but it was good to meet the management team and majority of the players at last Saturdays first pre-season training session.

Do you have a nickname?

When I first started playing football at around 7 years old there was three Jamie’s in the team so I was know as ‘Jam’.

Do you have a message for the SUFC supporters?

I look forward to being part of your club and playing a part in bringing success to Sheppey United.

Thanks Jam!
