2019/20 Season Youth Recruitment

Sheppey United Youth Football Club are both pleased and excited to announce that we are looking to expand our youth section in preparation for the 2019/20 season and are therefore seeking expressions of interest from managers, coaches and players to join us with the ultimate aim of players to develop and eventually go on to represent the 1st team at Senior level.

The plan for the 2019/20 is to offer football to players at the following age groups:

  • U9 and U10 – 7 a side football
  • U11 and U12 – 9 a side football
  • U13 – U18 – 11 a side football with teams capable of playing in the Kent Youth league, playing against the likes of Maidstone United, Ebbsfleet United, Dover Athletic, Ramsgate and many and other clubs with senior football side.

From our current structure we already have U15, U16 and U18 for next season with a full complement of coaches in place however we are looking to add new players to these squads. Therefore it’s the U9 to U14 age groups that we are seeking interest in from managers, coaches and players.

The plan is to appoint a manager and coaching team for the age group and then hold trials in which the players will be selected to represent the club. The plan is to have the managers and coaches in place as soon as possible in order to then set the trial dates to ensure the best preparation for next season so please contact as soon as you can.

If you are a manager, coach or player that is interested in joining this progressive club then please email the two email address below to register and interest with your name, role, coaching qualifications, contact details, (for players, current club and position and contact details) and we will contact you with further details.

Sheppey United Youth Expansion

Sheppey United Youth are pleased to announce that we are looking to expand our youth section by bringing in younger age groups for the start of the 2019/20 season.

At this time we have 3 teams that compete in Kent Youth League at U14, U15 and U18 level and all are very good and competitive sides playing against the likes of Maidstone United, Dover Athletic, Faversham Town, Sittingbourne FC, Dartford FC and Ebbsfleet United just to name a few. The U14s are top of their league and made the semi-finals of last year’s Kent County Cup and the U15s have a number of players currently representing the Swale district team. The Under 18s have recently had two players sign First Team forms at the age of just 16 and one of those has also been selected to represent the Kent Schools teams this season.

Our aim for now recruiting younger teams in order to be able to create teams with coaches that can train and develop together for a longer period of time in preparation to play at the high standard that the Kent Youth League has to offer.

The club has recently been awarded its Chartered Status again which ensures that we are a safe club to join as all our coaches have coaching qualifications which include a UEFA B Licence, all coaches have criminal record checks, Safeguarding children and 1st aid qualifications.

In order to fully understand what we need to have in place we are seeking expressions of interest from any teams, players and coaches that would be interested in joining the Sheppey United family next season.

To express your interest or if you wish to ask any questions please contact:

Sheppey United Youth FC Statement

Sheppey United Youth Football Club was born from an alliance of Sheppey United FC and existing Isle of Sheppey youth football clubs New Road FC and Range Rovers FC, with the aim of providing Kent Youth League football to talented youngsters on the Isle of Sheppey. Until now, the management committee has consisted of individuals from all alliance member clubs, but this summer see’s the last of Sheppey United Youth FC’s founding Officers resign to refocus their attention on their own respective clubs.
Sheppey United FC Chairman, and former Sheppey United Youth FC Chairman, Matt Smith had this to say: “It was a really ambitious project to get all of the Island’s Youth Football Clubs involved in running Sheppey United Youth FC, but the reality is our own clubs need our concentration, and lets not forget we are all volunteers, it just was’nt a sustainable model. I resigned as Chairman of the youth section at the end of the 2016/17 season to focus on the first team so its not come as a complete surprise. However I am very optimistic for the future of Sheppey United Youth! A new committee has been elected and I look forward to more players progressing to the first team in the coming seasons. I’d like to place on record my thanks to the SUFC Youth founding members: Jon Longhurst, Alan Jack, Eddy McEntire, Chris James, Darren Harrison, Debbie Harrison and Aidan Christie.”
Following Sheppey United FC’s AGM, Gary Seamark has been elected Chairman with Zach Foster-Crouch continuing to oversee player coaching as well as being elected Club Secretary.
Here’s what Gary had to say: “As you may know, we are very keen to grow the youth section as we move forward with this newly assembled committee. This coming season we have teams at U14, U15 and U18 (Premier Division and playing on the first team pitch) all playing in the Kent Youth League which is a great standard of football playing the likes of Maidstone, Faversham. Dover, Ebbsfleet, Sittingbourne, to name just a few.”
“We now wish to grow the youth section and give all young players on the Island the opportunity to wear the Sheppey kit and represent this great club. We are therefore interested in hearing from any teams, coaches, managers or players that would be interested in joining Sheppey United Youth as we begin early preparations for the 2019/20 season. This is all with the aim of producing young talented players to get to the first team. Only Tuesday night 3 of the under 18 players played in a first team friendly which is a testament to the hard work put in by everyone including the clubs officers over the last few years.”
The new SUFC Youth committee is:
Chairman – Gary Seamark
Club Secretary and Director of Football – Zach Foster-Crouch
Treasurer – Susie Granaghan
Member and U18s Manager – Glen Freeman
Member and U15s Manager – Andrew Cheeseman
Member and U14s Manager – Ross Wiles
