The Dan Bradshaw Charity Challenge

The Ites Foundation’s first charity fund challenge

Ites Striker Dan Bradshaw has laid down a challenge not only to himself but to all Ites fans! Can Dan score more than 35 goals in all cup competitions and league games in the forthcoming season?

We are looking for fans to donate £5 to the charity fund to give Dan a boost to reach that goal target, if he succeeds the Ites Foundation will benefit with its aims in helping Island sports and activity clubs, if he loses and doesn’t reach that target Dan will personally donate a further £200 of his own money. Chairman Matt Smith has started the challenge fund with £100.

To donate please hand your money in at the Gallery Bar on all pre-season friendlies and the club shop from league kick off. All we will require is your name and your £5 donation.

All charity contributors will be listed in the last home fixture’s match day programme.

Please back this great incentive – the challenge is on!

SUFC Capture Ollie Brown

SUFC are delighted to announce the capture of Ollie Brown

Sheppey United are pleased to announce that 23 year old defensive midfielder Ollie Brown will be playing at the Havill Stadium | Holm Park next season.

We caught up with Ollie and here’s what the former Sittingbourne player, with 300 Ryman games under his belt, had to say:

Welcome to Sheppey United Football Club – How does it feel to move to the Ites?

Last season I started off at Sittingbourne where we had a very good start but unfortunately I got injured but now I’m back and looking forward to the season ahead. Previous other clubs include Whitstable, Maidstone and Canterbury.

I’m very pleased to get the deal done, it’s a great club with a big fan Base who want to progress over the coming years to which I’m excited for.

Talk us through how the talks and move happened?

I’ve been speaking to Nick over the last couple of weeks and he was saying how impressed he was with the facilities and infrastructure and how he thought I’d be a great fit for the club. so we arranged a meeting at the club and the rest is history.

How would you describe your own game?

I’d describe my own game as me being a calm ball playing midfielder who can also put a tackle in and who also can cover in other positions.

How much do you know about Sheppey United?

I know quite a bit about the club as I’m a local lad, and can’t wait to be a part of the project.

What makes the club appealing to you?

The ambition of the club makes it appealing, the management have assembled a strong squad for this year and everyone associated is looking forward to what the season will hold.

Do you know anyone from the current squad?

Yes I know a few of the current Sheppey players, I’ve played with Girty, Jono, Brunty and a few of the others previously I know that we will be strong and competing this year.

What are your biggest aims for your time with Sheppey?

My biggest aim is to be competing for the title come the end of the year, also I’d like to have a good run in the fa vase as playing in the Bostick hasn’t allowed me to do so yet in my career.

Finally, what is your message to SUFC supporters?

My message to the supporters will be to support the lads through the good and the bad spells and I’m sure come the end of the season we won’t be very far away from where we want to be.

Manager Ernie Batten said:

“He will bring great qualities to our squad. He has great experience with 300 appearances in the league above, but at 23, he still has his best years ahead of him. I’m looking forward to working with Ollie.”

Dan Ellis Moves To SUFC

“Get your singing voices ready” says new Sheppey signing Dan Ellis

Sheppey United are pleased to announce that Goalkeeper Dan Ellis will be playing at the Havill Stadium | Holm Park next season.

We caught up with Dan and here’s what the former Crowborough Goalkeeper had to say:

Welcome to Sheppey United Football Club – You have been playing for Crowborough for the last few years, how does it feel to move to the Ites?
To move to a massive club like Sheppey is a great move for me! I’m buzzing to get back, meet the boys and get started!

Talk us through how the talks and move happened.
I had a text from Ernie, then from Nick about them being interested in me signing for Sheppey. Once I said I was interested they invited me down to the club to have a chat and it went from there! Having played here before against Sheppey I knew the facilities are unbelievable so it was a no brainier for me!

How would you describe your own game?
I’d like to think I do the basics well! I’m commanding and very loud! Ultimately I’m a winner and I hate losing!

How much do you know about Sheppey United?
I don’t know a lot about the history of Sheppey United but I do know that it’s a great family club! It’s well run, and great for the community! The stadium itself wouldn’t look out of place in the Conference South, let alone the SCEFL!

What makes the club appealing to you?
Firstly, it’s the drive and passion that the club are showing to get Sheppey United back where it should be! Also the fans! To get 250-350 most weeks in this league is a credit to them! I can’t wait to get playing in front of them!! They best get me a song or two ready!!

Do you know anyone from the current squad?
I’ve played against most of the boys so I know of them. The only one I know personally is one of the other new signings Rob Denness. We spent a season together at Holland’s and Blair 3 years ago.

What are your biggest aims for your time with Sheppey?
I want promotion! I’ve missed out the last 3 seasons by one position and a few points! The clubs ready to get promoted so I want to help them achieve that!

Finally, what is your message to SUFC supporters?
Get your singing voices ready! It’s gonna be a good season!! Let’s get the club where it belongs!!
UP THE ITES!

Manager Ernie Batten said:
“Dan has been playing at this level for years now, its great to have a player of his experience, quality and of course character!”

Ites Sign Callum Wraight

Sheppey United are pleased to announce that young centre-back Callum Wraight will be playing at the Havill Stadium | Holm Park next season.

We caught up with Callum and here’s what the former Folkestone Invicta defender had to say:

Welcome to Sheppey United Football Club – Talk us through how the talks and move happened.
I was contacted by Nick asking what I was doing this season. I had taken a season off due to the birth of my son and moving home, so I was keen to get back into the game.
After a brief conversation I was invited to meet with Nick and Ernie for a more indept talk and to look at the facilities. We met Wednesday night and I was impressed with what I saw and what we discussed, about the vision of the club going forward, and I was happy to sign!

How would you describe your own game?
I feel I read the game well, I am strong in the tackle and a strong left footed centre half/left back.

How much do you know about Sheppey United?
Through playing against Sheppey United in previous years, I know it’s a good set up.

What makes the club appealing to you?
The ambition of this club going forward, the strong fan base and the management and coaching staff.

Do you know anyone from the current squad?
I currently don’t know any of the squad but look forward to meeting them.
What are your biggest aims for your time with Sheppey?
To gain promotion!

Finally, what is your message to SUFC supporters?
I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the fans and hope we have a good season together.

Manager Ernie Batten said: “Callum really raises the quality of the squad and brings the perfect mentality to our dressing room. We have signed a fantastic player!”

Clubhouse Makeover

The makeover of our clubhouse is nearing completion… and looking great!

Works got underway last month and has involved:

  • new ceiling and lighting
  • freshly painted walls
  • new window blinds
  • relocation of the TV for the installation of a projector
  • installation of air-conditioning.

New furniture will be arriving soon.

The toilets are also being renovated – more on that when installation is nearly finished.

Sheppey United Chairman Matt Smith said: “The renovation demonstrates the modern, vibrant club we are! The transformation will make for an even better matchday experience, but more importantly, we can now provide a great function room with great facilities for the community to hire. If you’re looking for a venue for a party, wedding, christening, bar mitzvah, to wakes even, then our function room is the place for you.”

Information about venue hire will be available on our website soon.
