Welcoming Hamill To The Havill

We are pleased to announce new Ite Richie Hamill to the club.

Can you give a rundown of your playing career?

I started playing senior football at Phoenix, since then I have played for a few teams in this league. more recently for Cray Valley, then Fisher for 2 and a half years.

What was the deciding factor in you joining the Ites? Talk us though how the moved happened?

After meeting with the management team and seeing some of the players already signed, it was clear they were putting together a squad which will compete this season.

What was your impression of the pitch, stadium and fans?

Sheppey away has always been an away game I’d look forward too because of how impressive the set up and fans are, really looking forward to playing there week in week out.

Will you miss playing on the 3G at St Paul’s Sports Ground?

I know some players are not keen on 3G pitches, but I really enjoyed playing at St Paul’s. However, there’s nothing better than playing on a good grass pitch.

What are your thoughts on the forthcoming preseason games that are lined up?

Looking forward to all the games in preseason, I think the Sittingbourne game stands out as I know there’s a bit of a rivalry there.

Have you played with anyone from the current Sheppey squad in the past?

I played with Harrison briefly at Phoenix.

What strengths do you have that you can bring to the team?

I’m a technical player with a good range of passing, also have a decent delivery from set pieces.

Do you have a nickname that previous teammates called you?

Well my name is actually Richard so Richie would be my nickname.

It might be too soon to ask but had Ernie asked you to perform a certain role on the pitch?

I can play in several positions, so happy to play a number or roles when called upon.

Do you have a message for the SUFC supporters?

Really looking forward to the season ahead, let’s hope we are competing for silverware come the end of the season.

Thanks Richie!
