Ita an Ite

SUFC are pleased to announce Steven Ita will be joining the club.

Ita was kind enough to give us an interview…

Can you give a rundown of your playing career so far?

Had a few years of unsuccessful trials with professional clubs. At age 20 Made a decision to focus on my working career and playing non league football so I’ve played for teams like Walton Casuals, Herne Bay, Sittingbourne and last season with Corinthians finishing 2nd in the League.

What was the deciding factor in you joining the Ites? Talk us though how the moved happened?

Since my first encounter with the club I’ve been in awe of the pitch, fans and humility of the managing team during my loan move from Sittingbourne. The clubs 5 year ambition is totally achievable with the blend of current and new players so when I had a conversation with a good friend con and Jono (the assistant manager) I was more than convinced that the club is where I needed to be.

As you say, you’ve made a couple of appearances for the Ites before, what was your impression of the pitch, stadium and fans?

Not many facilities or fans could match what SUFC could offer, you can clearly tell it’s a club that has great investments and a great community support behind it.

What are your thoughts on the forthcoming preseason games that are lined up?

The structure of the club is of a professional standard looking at the pre-season schedule, we have quality games against top teams that will certainly test this team mentally and physically and on a personal note a chance to play against old teams and managers.

What strengths do you have that you can bring to the team?

I’m experienced at this level and levels above so I hope to bring that to the team. I have a relaxed personality on and off the pitch which breaths confidence to team mates especially when under pressure. Creativity and the willingness to win is my strongest asset and this season we will all see the best of it.

It might be to soon to ask but had Ernie asked you to perform a certain role on the pitch?

I think Ernie has always been impressed with my ability to chance tight games. I think pre-season will be a good chance for us to explore this more.

Who is your sporting icon?

My sporting icons are probably the two most entertaining footballers to watch, Jay-Jay  Okocha and Ronaldinho their ability to unlock games with a bit of magic is the reason I want to play football

What do you get up to during the summer break?

Spending time with family is important during the summer breaks because when the season starts it’s quite rare to have those quality moments.

Do you have a message for the SUFC supporters?

The supporters at SUFC  are incredible and together we will all have a successful campaign.

Thanks Ita!
