Sheppey are ecstatic to announce the signing of Central-Midfielder Luke Girt from Ramsgate.
The 22 year old from Minster on Sea has today signed for his home town club after several years playing in the Ryman South. Luke joined Sittingbourne in 2010 and later signed for Whitstable Town in 2014 before joining Ramsgate for the 2015/16 season.
Sheppey United Manager Ernie Batten had this to say about his latest signing.
“What a signing for the club, I’m over the moon, and a local lad too! He can’t wait to get involved, he is a great lad and has tonnes of experience under his belt at the age of 22!”
We also caught up with Girty himself who had this to say:
“I’m joining Sheppey firstly as this better suits my work, especially going into my final year of my apprenticeship where my hours may alter meaning committing to a team like Ramsgate wouldn’t be ideal nor easy for me. I have to be realistic and always put work before football.”
“Saying that, Sheppey has always been a club that has interested me and it’s great to see what Matt and Ernie have created for the club, and is something I can’t wait to get involved with to push the club on. I think there are exciting times ahead for Sheppey United. And I’m glad to have the opportunity to play for my local team.”
“I’d also like to thank Blacky the management staff, the players and all the Ramsgate fans for their support the last 2 seasons”.
We look forward to seeing Girty in an Ites shirt very soon!
